Defibrillator (AED) Training

What Is Automated External Defibrillation

If you’ve ever watched a medical drama on TV and seen the doctor shout “clear!” and then deliver 1000 volts to the patient’s heart, you’ll know what a Defibrillator (or Automated External Defibrillator/AED) is. In a nutshell if someone goes into cardiac arrest, a defibrillator (or AED) is a portable device that delivers an electric shock that will hopefully interrupt the irregular or abnormal heartbeat causing cardiac arrest and give the heart a chance to establish a more regular rhythm.

AED/Defibrillator Training

Automated External Defibrillation or AED training is a very worthwhile addition to your first aid training. CPR alone will not revive a patient. It will merely keep oxygen flowing to the casualty’s brain. You need to know how to use an AED and when it is the right time to use one.

AED Training With SPP Solutions

Our half day Automated External Defibrillation Training or AED course follows the current Resuscitation Council guidelines. The AED course will cover a range of topics including:

  • Abnormal Heart Rhythms and how to recognise when someone has had a heart attack
  • Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) including practical demonstrations
  • Resuscitation with an AED (Automated External Defibrillator)
  • How to deal with an unconscious patient
