Security Training is our forte and we offer everything from SIA Licensing Courses to Counter Terrorism advice and Hostile Reconnaissance Awareness. We offer this service in Havant, Portsmouth, Hampshire and the South Coast as well as Nationally and Internationally. While licensing training is standardised and governed by the SIA and awarding bodies and doesn’t allow for deviation all our other courses can be delivered to customer requirement, needs and business circumstances.
Security course entry requirements
Each candidate MUST produce identification in line with SIA requirements Any candidate who cannot satisfy the ID requirements will be unable to continue the course. Each candidate will also complete a Basic Skills Agency literacy assessment in line with awarding body and SIA recommendations. The idea of the assessment is to find the literacy level each candidate is at in order to give assistance throughout the learning process.
Security Industry accreditations
SPP Solutions Ltd are accredited to deliver National Open College Network (NOCN) security qualifications as well as Edexcel and more recently Highfield Awarding Body for Compliance (HABC) Having accreditation with a broad range of awarding bodies means that our customers are able to choose which certification best suits their business needs. For Instance they may want a BTEC in which case we will deliver an Edexcel course. All our accredited security courses will allow successful candidates to apply for an SIA License.

Level 2 Award in Door Supervision
This qualification now incorporates a Physical Intervention module, which makes up the 4th part of the course. The qualification is modular in line with changes to the other security guarding courses.
This course is designed to provide the information needed to allow an individual to gain a basic knowledge of Door Supervision thus allowing that individual, on successful completion of the course to apply for an SIA (Security Industry Authority) License in Door Supervision.
Entry requirements
Each candidate MUST produce Security Course ID Requirements. Any candidate who cannot satisfy the ID requirements will be unable to continue the course. Each candidate will also complete a Basic Skills Agency literacy assessment in line with awarding body and SIA recommendations. The idea of the assessment is to find the literacy level each candidate is at in order to give assistance throughout the learning process.
Course structure
The Course is divided into 4 parts.
Part 1 is entitled “Working in the Private Security Industry” and covers the following core areas over the first 10 hours of the course:
- Know the purpose and main features of the private security industry
- Understand the legislation that is relevant to people working in the private security industry
- Know how to maintain Health and Safety in the workplace
- Know how to apply the principles of fire safety
- Know how to deal with non fire related workplace emergencies
- Understand the principles of effective communication and customer care in the private security industry
Part 2 is entitled “Working as a Door Supervisor” and covers the following core areas during 14 hours of the course:
- Understand the behaviour appropriate for individual door supervisors
- Understand elements of civil and criminal law relevant to door supervisors
- Understand admission policies and search procedures
- Understand the powers of citizen’s arrest and related procedures
- Understand relevant drug legislation and its relevance to the role of the door supervisor
- Understand incident recording and crime scene preservation
- Understand licensing law and social responsibility relating to licensed premises
- Understand safety and security issues relevant to door supervisors
Part 3 is entitled “Communication and Conflict Management” and covers the following core areas on the course:
- Understand the principles of conflict management appropriate to their role
- Understand how to recognise, assess and reduce risk in conflict situations
- Understand how to communicate effectively in emotive situations and de-escalate conflict
- Understand how to develop and use problem solving strategies for resolving conflict
- Understand good practice to follow after conflict situations
Part 4 is entitled “Physical Intervention for Door Supervisors” and covers the following core areas on the course:
- Understand physical interventions and the legal/professional implications of their use
- Understand how to reduce the risk of harm when physical intervention skills are used
- Be able to use non-aggressive physical skills to protect self and others from assault
- Be able to use non-pain related standing holding and escorting techniques, including
- non-restrictive and restrictive skills
- Understand good practice to follow after physical interventions
Assessment method
Units 1, 2 and 3 are assessed by means of multiple choice question papers.
- Unit 1 assessment consists of 20 multiple choice questions answered in 40 minutes.
- Unit 2 assessment consists of 20 multiple choice questions.
- Unit 3 assessment consists of 20 multiple choice questions answered in 40 minutes.
Unit 4 is practical assessment and a short written paper.
Pass marks
Units 1, 2 and 3 have a 70% pass mark (14 out of 20 correct)
Course duration
5 Days or we can deliver the course over 4 longer days

Level 2 Award in Security Guarding
This course is designed to provide the information needed to allow an individual to gain a basic knowledge of security guarding thus allowing that individual, on successful completion of the course to apply for an SIA (Security Industry Authority) License.

Each candidate will also complete a Basic Skills Agency literacy assessment in line with awarding body and SIA recommendations. The idea of the assessment is to find the level each candidate is at in order to give assistance throughout the learning process.
Course structure
The Course is divided into 3 Units.
Unit 1 is entitled “Working in the private security industry” and covers the following core areas over the first 1.5 days of the course:
- Know the purpose and main features of the private security industry.
- Understand the legislation that is relevant to people working within the private security industry.
- Know how to maintain Health and Safety in the workplace.
- Know how to apply the principles of fire safety.
- Know how to deal with non fire related emergencies.
- Understand the principles of communication and customer care within the private security industry.
Unit 2 is entitled “Working as a security officer” and covers the following core areas during the next 1.5 days of the course:
- Understand the role of a security officer within the private security industry.
- Understand the importance of, and reasons for, patrolling.
- Understand how to control access to and egress from a site.
- Understand basic search procedures.
- Understand the purpose and function of different types of technology, security and monitoring systems in the security environment.
- Understand the law and its relevance to the role of a security officer.
- Understand the importance and purpose of reporting and record keeping.
Unit 3 is entitled “Conflict management for the private security industry” and covers the following areas delivered on the last day of the course:
- Understand the communication skills and knowledge of conflict management appropriate to their role.
- Understand how to recognise assess and reduce risk in conflict situations.
- Understand how to communicate effectively in emotive situations and de-escalate conflict.
- Understand how to develop and use problem solving strategies for resolving conflict.
- Understand good practice to follow after conflict situations
Assessment method
Each of the 3 Units is assessed by means of a (1 for each unit) multiple choice question paper. Each of the 3 assessments consists of 20 multiple choice questions answered in 30mins (each paper) The tests are taken at the end of day 2 (Unit 1) The end of Day 3 (Unit 2) and the end of Day 4 (Unit 3)
Pass marks
Each unit has a 70% pass mark (14 out of 20 correct)
Course duration
4 Days but we can deliver this course over 3 longer days

Level 2 CCTV PSS (Public Space Surveillance) Operators course
This course is designed to provide the information needed to allow an individual to gain a basic knowledge of CCTV (PSS) Operations thus allowing that individual, on successful completion of the course to apply for an SIA (Security Industry Authority) License.

- Understand CCTV Codes of Practice, Operational Procedures and Guidelines.
- Understand relevant legislation and how it impacts on CCTV Operations.
- Understand the roles and responsibilities of the CCTV operator and other CCTV staff.
- Understand the characteristics of a CCTV system.
- Understand how to make effective use of CCTV equipment.
- Understand emergency procedures in the CCTV control room.
Unit 3 is entitled “practical operation of CCTV equipment” Unit 3 is conducted on the final day of the course and covers the following areas:
- Be able to operate CCTV equipment.
- Be able to demonstrate operational use of a CCTV system.
Assessment method
Units 1 and 2 are assessed by means of 2 (1 for each unit) multiple choice question papers each paper consists of 20 questions. The time limit for the completion of each paper is 30mins. Unit 3 is assessed by means of a practical assessment run by the instructor.
Pass marks
Unit 1 and 2 have a 70% pass mark (14 out of 20 each paper) Unit 3 has no formal score; however certain criteria must be met in order to show that the candidate is capable of putting into practice all the information given.

Level 2 Award in Conflict Management
The course is designed to provide the information needed to allow an individual to gain knowledge and understanding of why and how conflict can occur in the workplace and what they can do to diffuse confrontational situations without the need to resort to physical techniques. This qualification makes up part 2 of security based qualifications but it is also a stand-alone qualification for non-security employed people. This qualification can be delivered over 1 or 2 Days. The course structure remains the same for both but on the 2- Day course we cover more role-play and scenario based training.
Entry requirements
Any candidate taking this as part of a security based qualification MUST produce Security Course ID Requirements Candidates who cannot satisfy the ID requirements will be unable to continue the course.
Candidate attending the course from a non security background will NOT be required to produce ID in line with SIA standards.
Course structure
The Course is structured as follows. This course is entitled “Communication and Conflict Management” and covers the following core areas:
- Understand the principles of conflict management appropriate to their role
- Understand how to recognise, assess and reduce risk in conflict situations
- Understand how to communicate effectively in emotive situations and de-escalate conflict
- Understand how to develop and use problem solving strategies for resolving conflict

Assessment method
Assessment for this Unit consists of a 20 question multiple-choice paper.
Pass Marks
This has a 70% pass mark (14 out of 20 correct)

CCTV (PSS) Security Managers Course
This course is designed for individuals fulfilling a Management responsibility whether they are Data Processors or Data Controllers. It allows Managers to understand the complexities of CCTV Management and allows better understanding of their legal and moral responsibilities towards Data Subjects.
Entry requirements
Individuals attending the course should have a basic understanding of CCTV (PSS) They should currently be working in, or managing a CCTV Control room.
Course structure
The course covers and expands on the following areas:
- The Information Commissioner and CCTV
- Data Protection Act 1998 and the Data Protection Principles
- CCTV Codes of Practice and writing Operational Procedures
- British Standards associated with CCTV
- CCTV Storage Media
- CCTV Control Room Visitors and Confidentiality

- Dealing with Subject Access Requests efficiently
- How to effectively monitor compliance.

Assessment will be tutor lead. During the course you will analyze various documents and have group discussions and debates on the key areas.

Counter Terrorism Awareness
This course is designed to heighten awareness of Terrorism issues. Mention Terrorism and you may think of Al Qaeda, The IRA or ETA. The fact is there are currently 59 terrorist organisations proscribed in the UK now. Proscription means that groups on the Proscription list cannot recruit fundraise or pedal propaganda in the UK.
Entry requirements
Students will be asked to SIA ID Requirements. The course is aimed at Security, Police and other uniformed agencies and is structured to heighten awareness.
Course structure
- The course covers and expands on the following areas:
- Anti Terrorist legislation
- HM Government Contest
- Understanding radicalisation and the effect of UK Foreign Policy
- Threat awareness and security response levels
- MI5 role
- Understanding Hostile reconnaissance
- Public roles
- Improvised Explosive Devices (IED)

There is no formal assessment but there will be group discussion about current Policy and its effects.

Edged Weapons Awareness
The fact is very straightforward. Knives and Edged Weapons are available in abundance and this area of crime blights or has the potential to blight every City Town Village and Community in the UK. Having an understanding and awareness of what sort of weapons are on the street will better serve you in your personal safety. If you know what the threat is then you can better prepare for it and hopefully defeat it.

There are no entry requirements for this package. However due to the nature of the package we will take interest in who is applying and ask for ID at the beginning of the package.
