Happy and Safe New Year
I would just like to take this opportunity to wish you all a very Happy and safe 2011.
2010 has been an eventful year both for SPP Solutions and also for security in general. As we move into 2011 the threat certainly doesn’t diminish and this has been reflected in the Prime Ministers New Years address and also the recent Terror arrests in Cardiff Stoke and London.
Early in 2011 we are going to Germany to talk about Industrial Espionage and Travel Safety and are looking forward to being able to pass on valuable and timely information.
All that is left for me to say is Bon Voyage to 2010 and welcome 2011 with open arms in anticipation of a good year.
Thank You all and hope to see you all in 2011.
Knife killing in packed ticket hall.
A 15 year old boy was killed in front of shocked commuters on Thurs 25 Mar inside Victoria station in London.
The boy was 15 year old Sofyen Ghailan. He had been involved in an ongoing knife battle between rival gangs. He was attacked by a mob during evening rush hour on Thurs and chased into the packed ticket hall cornered and repeatedly stabbed in front of shocked commuters.
His attackers fled leaving 2 knives behind at the scene. The incident was captured on CCTV and there have been 20 arrests. Some of the gang were girls and the gang is of Somali or Afro-Caribbean origin.
This again highlights the lack of respect for life that some have in todays society and a lack grasp of the problem and how to deal with it. This has moved the problem to a new level with gangs apparently care free in there pursuit of street justice.

Bomb plotters sentenced
3 plotters found guilty of planning to blow up Trans Atlantic passenger jets using liquid explosive devices have been sentenced.
Justice Richard Henriques in London issued the sentence, calling the plot “most grave and wicked conspiracy ever proven” in England. A jury convicted the men, — Ahmed Ali, Assad Sarwar, Tanvir Hussain — on Sept. 7. Ali was sentenced to a minimum of 40 years, Sarwar at least 36 years and Hussain at least 32 years.
Apologies
SPP Solutions apologise for the lack of Blogs in the last week. This has been due to technical problems out of our control.
Security wise, this has been an important week with the Climate Camp in London and bombing in Athens as well as the case in Manchester of the 2 teenagers plotting to commit mass murder by blowing up their School and a local Retail Park.
The plot was only uncovered because they didn’t guard what they were going to do closely enough and a person who became worried by their claims went to the Police. This is a good reason to closely guard your personal and sensitive business information because you never know who could be listening.
In this case it was a blessing that they had little OPSEC (Operational Security)
We have more course dates and these will be published on here very shortly. We are now advertising in Health Business magazine and hope to be in a position to pass on Conflict Management as well as Care and Control Training to the NHS.
In the near future we will be A1 Assessors. If you have a requirement or desire to put security people through the NVQ programme please let us know.
MI5 on Espionage
The UK is a high priority espionage target and a number of countries are actively seeking UK information and material to advance their own military, technological, political and economic programmes.
We (MI5) estimate that at least 20 foreign intelligence services are operating to some degree against UK interests. Of greatest concern are the Russians and Chinese.
The number of Russian intelligence officers in London has not fallen since Soviet times.
The threat against UK interests is not confined to the UK itself. A foreign intelligence service operates best in its own country and some may therefore find it easier to target UK interests at home, where they can control the environment and where we may let our guard drop.
