Automated External Defibrillator (AED) Course

Although the AED is now part of the HSE 1 Day Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) and 3 Day First Aid at Work (FAW) courses. This course provides the First Aider with more in-depth knowledge about the use of the AED.

Anyone is able to complete this AED program and it’s not restricted to First Aiders.

How much does the course cost?

The course costs £50 per person + VAT.
Course structure

The course covers and expands on the following areas:
  • Chain of survival
  • Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
  • Heart Problems
  • Abnormal Heart Rhythms
  • Resuscitation with an AED (Automated External Defibrillator)
  • Unconscious patient
  • Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
  • Choking
Entry requirements

There are no academic requirements to join this course, however individuals should be able to kneel and perform Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).
Assessment method

The course is continually assessed over the day and there is a more formal question and answer session during the final practical assessment.

1/2 Day (the qualification lasts for 1 Year)
